Dick Allen hit his first grand slam in the A. L., but the seventh of his major league career, to help propel the White Sox to a 9-2 victory over the Yankees. Ed Herrmann and Bucky Dent singled with one out in the sixth inning. After Pat Kelly popped up, Carlos May singled to load the bases and set the stage for Allen's homer off Pat Dobson.
