Ten-Cent Beer Night proved costly to the Indians when unruly fans poured onto the field in the ninth inning and set off a near-riot that resulted in the umpires forfeiting the game to the Rangers, 9-0. Nestor Chylak, a member of the umpiring crew, was hit on the head with a chair. Tom Grieve hit two homers for the Rangers, who were leading, 5-3, before the Indians began a rally in the ninth when George Hendrick doubled with one out and scored on a single by Ed Crosby. Hits by Rusty Torres and Alan Ashby then loaded the bases and John Lowenstein lofted a sacrifice fly to tie the score before fans began swarming onto the field. [The Sporting News]
