Pinch-runner Frank Baker raced home from first base on a two-out double by Mark Belanger to climax a three-run rally in the ninth inning that brought the Orioles a 5-4 victory over the Royals. The Orioles used three pinch-runners during their rally. Tommy Davis drew a walk and gave way to Al Bumbry, who was forced by Boog Powell. Enos Cabell ran for Powell and moved to second when Don Baylor walked. Brooks Robinson singled, scoring Cabell. Baylor took third and then crossed the plate on a sacrifice fly by pinch-hitter Elrod Hendricks. Baker, who replaced Robinson on the bases, then scored the winning run on Belanger's two-bagger.
