Ending a four-hour, 10-minute game, Jorge Orta drove in Dick Allen with a double in the 15th inning to give the White Sox a 7-6 victory over the Yankees. Allen singled and took second on a sacrifice. After an intentional pass to Ken Henderson, Orta hit Cecil Upshaw's first pitch to him for the winning hit. The Yankees built up a 5-0 lead early in the game, three runs scoring on a double by Graig Nettles, before the White Sox came back with six in the third. Carlos May and Allen batted in two runs apiece. The Yankees tied the score in the ninth when Elliott Maddox doubled and Bobby Murcer singled. [The Sporting News]
