Bert Blyleven turned in his first complete game since May 24 and pitched the Twins to a 3-2 victory over the Yankees. Glenn Borgmann batted in two runs for the Twins with a bases-loaded single in the fourth inning before the Yankees picked up a run in their half on a walk and singles by Graig Nettles and Rick Dempsey.

The Twins chalked up what proved to be the winning tally in the fifth on singles by Rod Carew, Steve Braun and Bobby Darwin. The Yankees still were one run short after scoring in their half of the fifth on a single by Lou Piniella, double by Bobby Murcer and infield hit by Ron Blomberg. [The Sporting News]
