Joe Colborn, who had been out with a pulled groin muscle, made his first appearance since May 10 and allowed only two hits in 5 2/3 scoreless innings of relief to receive credit for the Brewers' 6-4 victory over the Athletics. Doubles by Ken Berry, Pedro Garcia and Don Money helped the Brewers build up a 5-1 lead against Catfish Hunter before the A's chased Bill Champion while scoring three times in the fourth. Colborn relieved and got another run for a working margin when Garcia homered off Blue Moon Odom in the Brewers' half of the fourth. [The Sporting News]
