Knocked out in the sixth inning, Jim Palmer suffered his seventh straight defeat when the Rangers beat the Orioles, 5-3. Earl Williams drove in two runs with a single and infield out to put Palmer ahead, 3-2, before the righthander folded. Lenny Randle doubled to open the sixth and scored the tying run on a single by Jim Sundberg. After taking third on a single by Cesar Tovar, Sundberg crossed the plate with the go-ahead run on a groundout by Toby Harrah.
