. . . where the 1970s live forever!

After the Indians piled up eight runs in the fourth inning, Gaylord Perry breezed to his 11th consecutive victory, beating the White Sox, 10-1. Gaylord's triumph was the 188th of his career. Brother Jim Perry had 199 victories. Their total of 387 games won set a major league record for brothers, breaking the previous mark established by Arthur, John and Walter Clarkson.

The Indians' eighth-inning outburst started with a double by George Hendrick and run-scoring single by Joe Lis, who then stole second. Dave Duncan walked. Ed Crosby singled, driving in Lis. Duncan took third and scored on a passed ball. Luis Alvarado and Frank Duffy followed with singles, each driving in a run. Leron Lee then walked and Charlie Spikes capped the inning with a three-run homer. The White Sox run off Perry was unearned. [The Sporting News]
