Steve Carlton allowed only five hits and pitched the Phillies to a 3-0 victory over the Astros as the lefthander continued his return to the form that brought him the N.L.'s Cy Young Award in 1972. The Phils staked Carlton to a run off Don Wilson in the first inning. Dave Cash doubled, Larry Bowa walked and, after a double steal, Cash scored on an infield out by Mike Schmidt. The other two runs followed in the sixth on a single by Bill Robinson, a late throw to second on a grounder by Del Unser and a double by Willie Montanez. [The Sporting News]
