Nolan Ryan struck out 19 batters in 13 innings before giving way to Barry Raziano, who gained his first victory of the season when the Angels scored in the 15th to defeat the Red Sox, 4-3. Ryan walked 10, including four in the fourth to hand the Red Sox their first run. The Angels came back with three in their half of the fourth, but the Red Sox tied score in the ninth when Rick Miller walked and Carl Yastrzemski homered. However in the 15th, Mickey Rivers singled off Tiant, who pitched the route for the Red Sox, and scored the winning run from first base on a double by Denny Doyle. [The Sporting News]
