Run-producing singles by Tommy Davis and Jim Fuller in the eighth inning carried the Orioles to a 2-1 victory over the White Sox behind the five-hit pitching of Ross Grimsley. The White Sox scored in the first on a walk to Pat Kelly, single by Ken Henderson and sacrifice fly by Ron Santo. The Orioles were limited to three hits by Skip Pitlock in the first seven innings, but when Mark Belanger walked to open the eighth, the White Sox brought in Terry Forster, who failed in relief. Paul Blair sacrificed and Bobby Grich was hit by a pitch. The Orioles' two runs then followed on hits by Davis and Fuller. [The Sporting News]
