Jerry Koosman, who had lost six straight times to the Dodgers since beating them last on August 22, 1969, held his jinx club to seven hits and pitched the Mets to a 4-1 victory. The Dodgers scored their run in the first inning on a double by Davey Lopes and single by Bill Russell. The Mets came back with two runs in their half on a pass to Don Hahn, single by Felix Millan, sacrifice by George Theodore, infield out by Cleon Jones and single by Rusty Staub. A homer by Staub added a run in the fourth and the final tally followed in the fifth when Hahn doubled and Millan singled. [The Sporting News]
