An Oldtimers' Day crowd of 35,732 saw the Reds collect only five hits off Jim Lonborg and lose to the Phillies, 5-2. The Phillies bunched a safe bunt by Larry Bowa, walk to Mike Schmidt, error by Joe Morgan on an infield hit by Willie Montanez and single by Del Unser for two runs in the first inning. Dave Cash doubled, advanced on an infield out and scored on a sacrifice fly by Schmidt in third. Lonborg doubled and batted in one of the Phillies' two runs in the fourth. The Reds got on the scoreboard with a homer by Johnny Bench in the sixth and added their last run on a triple by Dan Driessen and single by Terry Crowley in the ninth. [The Sporting News]
