Allowing only two hits, Jim Bibby pitched the Rangers to a 6-0 victory over the Tigers. The Rangers scored in three-run bursts in the first and second innings. In the first, Cesar Tovar singled, Dave Nelson walked and both scored on a double by Alex Johnson, who continued home to tally the third run when Ed Brinkman made a wild throw in handling the relay from the outfield. A single by Duke Sims, pass to Lenny Randle, singles by Tovar and Nelson and an error by Willie Horton added the three other runs in the second. [The Sporting News]
