A tremendous relief performance by Mike Cosgrove was rewarded when Tommy Helms hit a homer in the second inning to enable the Astros' rookie lefthander to beat the Phillies, 1-0. Dave Roberts started for the Astros and gave up two hits with one out in the first inning before pulling his shoulder muscle. Cosgrove relieved and, pitching the rest of the way, allowed only two hits on safe bunts by Willie Montanez and Ron Schueler.
