Ernie McAnally pitched a two-hitter and was the winner in a duel with Clay Kirby when Jim Cox homered in the ninth inning to give the Expos a 2-1 victory over the Reds. The Expos scored their initial run in the first on a pass to Mike Jorgensen, sacrifice by Larry Lintz and single by Ken Singleton. The Reds' run followed in the third when Kirby walked, took second on a wild pitch and crossed the plate on a double by Pete Rose. [The Sporting News]
