A grand slam by Johnny Briggs in the first inning started the Brewers off to a 6-0 victory over the Orioles. Robin Yount walked, George Scott singled and Don Money beat out a bunt to load the bases for Briggs' homer off Doyle Alexander. A triple by Bob Coluccio and sacrifice fly by Tim Johnson added a run in the second and the Brewers posted their final marker in the third when Darrell Porter, after reaching base on an error, stole second and came home on a single by Mike Hegan. Ed Sprague was within two outs of a complete-game shutout before giving way to Tom Murphy after Tommy Davis doubled and Bobby Grich walked in the ninth. Murphy retired the last two batters.
