| A three-run homer by Tony Oliva in the eighth inning beat Wilbur Wood and carried the Twins to a 3-2 victory over the White Sox. Bill Sharp homered for the White Sox in the seventh inning to give Wood a 1-0 lead, but Steve Brye opened the Twins' eighth with a safe bunt. Rod Carew singled and Oliva hit his homer. The White Sox scored a run in the ninth on a walk to Sharp, single by Ed Herrmann and forceout by Pat Kelly before Bill Campbell saved the game for Ray Corbin. [The Sporting News] |
