Although tagged for 12 hits, Rick Reuschel was able to post a shutout, pitching the Cubs to a 3-0 victory over the Pirates. The Cubs were held to six hits by Dock Ellis, but they included homers by Jose Cardenal in the second inning and Billy Williams in the fifth. The Cubs also scored another run in the second.
