The Angels knocked out Jim Bibby in the second inning while scoring five runs and defeated the Rangers, 7-4. Tommy McCraw walked and crossed the plate on singles by Leroy Stanton and Paul Schaal to start the Angels' scoring. After a pass to Ellie Rodriguez loaded the bases. Mickey Rivers drove in two runs with a double. Rodriguez scored on a wild pitch and when Bibby, covering the plate, dropped the throw from catcher Charlie Sands, who had retrieved the ball, Rivers also slid home with the Angels' fifth run.
