After Jim Wynn's second homer of the game tied the score in the ninth inning, Joe Ferguson hit for the circuit in the 10th to give the Dodgers a 3-2 victory over the Giants. In a virtual duplicate of the previous night's game, which the Dodgers also won in 10 innings on a homer by Bill Buckner, Mike Marshall was the winner in relief and Elias Sosa was the loser on a gopher pitch.

Wynn hit his first homer of the game in the opening inning. The Giants tied the score in the second on singles by Ed Goodson and Gary Thomasson around an infield out and took the lead in the sixth when Garry Maddox walked and raced home on a double by Goodson. Wynn's tying homer came off Jim Barr with one out in the ninth. Steve Barber relieved and finished the frame before going out for a pinch-hitter.
