Making his first start against his former teammates, Fritz Peterson got 15-hit backing, including a bases-loaded homer by John Lowenstein, as the Indians pummeled the Yankees, 10-3. Peterson allowed one unearned run in posting his fifth victory with eighth-inning relief help from Fred Beene, another onetime Yankee. Lowenstein's first career slam came in the fourth off reliever Mike Wallace after Cleveland had loaded the bases on three straight singles to dispatch starter Doc Medich. Wallace walked Jack Brohamer to force in a run before Lowenstein unloaded.
