Tony Oliva homered after walks to Steve Brye and Rod Carew for the initial trio. A pass to Phil Roof, single by Brye, triple by Carew and single by Oliva added three more in the second. The Twins then capped the attack with their last three runs in the third on singles by Jim Holt, Eric Soderholm and Danny Thompson, a sacrifice by Roof and single by Brye.
