Jim Perry gained the 200th victory of his major league career when the Indians defeated the Red Sox, 2-1. The Red Sox scored their run in the second inning on singles by Rico Petrocelli, Dwight Evans and Juan Beniquez before the Indians came back with their pair off Roger Moret in the fifth on a walk to Frank Duffy, triple by Buddy Bell and single by Jack Brohamer. Perry was lifted after giving up a one-out single to Dick McAuliffe in the ninth. [The Sporting News]
