Rod Carew hit a triple and two singles in five times at bat, lifting his average to an even .400, in pacing the Twins to a 6-3 victory over the White Sox. Steve Brye walked, Carew tripled and Tony Oliva homered to give the Twins three runs in the first inning. Carew singled and scored in the third before the Twins added their final pair on a single by Danny Thompson, triple by Glenn Borgmann and single by Brye in the sixth. Carlos May hit a two-run homer for the White Sox. [The Sporting News]
