Dick Allen and Bill Melton hit homers in the White Sox support of Wilbur Wood, who beat the Royals, 4-1, for his 13th victory. Allen, after hitting his homer in the first inning, rapped a single in the fourth, took third on a single by Carlos May and scored when Ken Henderson grounded into a double play. A three-base error by Jim Wohlford and single by May added a run in the sixth before Melton wrapped up the White Sox scoring with his circuit clout in the seventh. [The Sporting News]
