Eric Soderholm walked in the ninth inning and sped home from first base on a double by pinch-hitter Glenn Borgmann to bring the Twins a 5-4 victory over the Rangers. Mike Hargrove had four hits for the Rangers and drove in two runs. The Rangers took a 4-2 lead with two runs in the sixth. Jeff Burroughs doubled and scored on a single by Hargrove. After Jim Spencer was hit by a pitch, Lenny Randle singled to drive in Hargrove.

The Twins picked up a run in their half of the sixth when Rod Carew doubled and Harmon Killebrew singled. Soderholm singled in the seventh, took third on a single by Bobby Darwin and scored the tying run on a sacrifice fly by Larry Hisle. [The Sporting News]
