Larry Dierker pitched a five-hitter and batterymate Milt May drove in three runs with two singles and a double as the Astros defeated the Pirates, 7-1. The Astros settled the issue quickly with run-scoring singles by Cesar Cedeno, Lee May and Milt May in the first inning.
