. . . where the 1970s live forever!

Fred Kendall drove in three runs with a double and single and Dave Roberts smashed a two-run homer to enable the Padres to snap their six-game losing streak with a 5-4 victory over the Mets. The Padres took a 2-1 lead in the second inning when Nate Colbert and Cito Gaston singled and Kendall hit his double.

Colbert singled again in the sixth, stole second and scored on Kendall's single before Roberts hit his homer for the deciding blow. The Mets made the game close in the ninth when Cleon Jones singled, John Milner doubled and Ron Hodges rapped a three-run homer. [The Sporting News]
