. . . where the 1970s live forever!

After Marty Pattin retired 15 batters in order, the Yankees exploded with a homer attack to defeat the Royals, 9-4. The Royals grabbed a 3-0 lead in the first inning on a two-run triple by Hal McRae and single by Jim Wohlford. John Mayberry added a homer in the third before the Yankees swung into action.

In the sixth, Chris Chambliss singled and on Pattin's next pitch Thurman Munson homered. Munson batted in another run with a single in the seventh. Bobby Murcer then took over the slugging role, hitting homers in the eighth and ninth, each with a man on base. [The Sporting News]
