Dick Ruthven turned in his second complete game in 19 starts, matched his career high with 10 strikeouts and pitched the Phillies to a 6-2 victory over the Giants. Elias Sosa, in relief of John D'Acquisto, was the loser when the Phillies broke a 2-2 tie with a run in the seventh inning on singles by Mike Schmidt, Willie Montanez and Del Unser. Mike Anderson homered in the eighth for his second RBI of the game and Unser added his second RBI with a triple in the ninth before scoring himself on a single by Ollie Brown. [The Sporting News]
