. . . where the 1970s live forever!

Although Ron Reed had defeated the Cardinals only three times previously while losing 10 times, the Braves' righthander ignored his past performances and breezed to an 8-1 victory on a dole of seven singles. The Cardinals escaped a shutout with a run in the ninth on hits by Reggie Smith, Joe Torre and Ken Reitz. Ralph Garr and Marty Perez led the Braves at bat. Garr had two singles, drove in two runs and scored one. Perez rapped a triple and single, good for three RBIs, and scored once. [The Sporting News]
