Rod Carew, who bunted safely in the 10th inning when the Twins loaded the bases and failed to score, laid down another safe bunt in the 11th to plate Craig Kusick and beat the Indians, 2-1. The Indians counted their run in the second on singles by Oscar Gamble and George Hendrick and infield out by Dave Duncan. The Twins picked up the tying tally in the eighth on a double by Steve Brye and two errors by Frank Duffy.

In the 11th, Eric Soderholm singled and was forced by Kusick. Glenn Borgmann singled with two out, sending Kusick to third. Carew then surprised with his bunt to the left of the mound past Tom Hilgendorf. [The Sporting News]
