Bobby Tolan rapped two successive homers to lead the Padres' support of Dave Friesleben, who pitched a five-hitter and beat the Expos, 5-1. Tolan led off the game with a round-tripper and another run followed when Nate Colbert walked, stole second and Willie McCovey singled. With two out in the second, Tolan homered again and the Padres proceeded to add three more runs on a walk to Derrel Thomas and singles by Colbert, McCovey and Dave Winfield.
