Bud Harrelson, who missed 29 games after suffering a broken bone in his right hand, returned to action and drove in one of the Mets' runs in a 4-1 victory over the Dodgers. Wayne Garrett singled, stole second and counted on a double by Rusty Staub in the third inning before a single by Don Hahn, double by Ted Martinez and single by Harrelson added a tally in the fourth.

The Dodgers, who were held to six hits by Jon Matlack, picked up their tally on a double by Tom Paciorek and two infield outs in the fifth. The Mets iced their victory in the ninth when Staub walked and Cleon Jones smashed a homer. [The Sporting News]
