Continuing his hot hitting, Gary Matthews rapped three singles and drove in four runs to pace the Giants to a 6-2 victory over the Expos. Matthews, who had a total of 25 hits in his last 59 times at bat, plated two runs with a single in third, added two more with a single in the fifth and scored after hitting his third single of the game in the eighth. Mike Caldwell held the Expos to two hits until a single by Barry Foote, double by Jose Morales, error by Gary Thomasson and single by Willie Davis produced two runs in the eighth and brought Randy Moffitt to the mound in relief.
