Jeff Burroughs, who leads the A. L. in RBIs, batted in his 73rd run of the season with a single in the seventh inning to give the Rangers a 2-1 victory over the Red Sox. Three Ranger errors resulted in a Red Sox run in the first. The Rangers tied the score in the fifth on a walk to Jim Fregosi, forceout by Jim Sundberg and singles by Cesar Tovar and Alex Johnson. Then in the seventh, Sundberg singled, stopped at second on a single by Johnson and scored the winning run on Burroughs' hit. [The Sporting News]
