Sending 12 men to bat, the Twins scored seven runs in the fourth inning to clinch a 10-7 victory over the Tigers. The Twins, who were leading, 2-1, opened their outburst with a run on a single by Jerry Terrell and double by Craig Kusick. Phil Roof singled Kusick home. Rod Carew doubled and Larry Hisle drew an intentional pass to load the bases. Bobby Darwin singled, driving in two runs, and Eric Soderholm followed with a homer for three more.

Bert Blyleven was the winner, but lasted only five innings before giving way to Tom Burgmeier. Bill Freehan homered for the Tigers and Aurelio Rodriguez tripled with the bases loaded. [The Sporting News]
