The six-hit pitching of Jim Barr in the first game and two-hit hurling of John D'Acquisto and Elias Sosa in the second game enabled the Giants to shut out the Expos in both ends of a doubleheader, 4-0 and 2-0. In the opener, Garry Maddox batted in two of the Giants' runs with a homer and sacrifice fly.

D'Acquisto gave up a single by Ron Fairly for the only hit off his deliveries before being removed after running up a count of three balls and no strikes with Fairly again at the plate in the ninth. Sosa completed passing Fairly, with the walk being charged to D'Acquisto, and gave up a double by Mike Jorgensen, which failed to score Fairly, before retiring the side. The Giants scored in the third on a walk to D'Acquisto, singles by Mike Phillips and Chris Speier and sacrifice fly by Maddox. Their other run in the seventh counted on a single by Gary Matthews, balk by Steve Rogers and single by Chris Arnold. [The Sporting News]
