. . . where the 1970s live forever!

Sal Bando hit a pair of homers and Vida Blue yielded only three hits as Oakland waltzed to a 5-1 victory over the Twins, marking the seventh straight time the A's have whipped the Minnesotans without a loss this year. Vida missed the shutout in the seventh inning when Craig Kusick sent a blast out of the park.

Bando, who missed the All-Star Game with a knee injury, homered off loser Joe Decker (10-9) in the opening frame following a single by Bert Campaneris. He added a solo shot, No. 13 for the season, in the third. A round-tripper by Dick Green gave Oakland a 4-0 lead in the fourth and they added their final run in the fifth on a pair of walks and Joe Rudi's double. [The Sporting News]
