The Giants provided 14-hit support for rookie Ed Halicki, who chipped in with two himself in winning for the first time in four decisions, 7-2, over the Astros. San Francisco wiped out a 1-0 Astro lead in the second, scoring three times on singles by Gary Matthews, Chris Speier, Bruce Miller and Bobby Bonds and a groundout. The Giants made it 6-1 and kayoed loser Claude Osteen in the sixth with Bonds, Chris Arnold and Speier getting RBI hits.
