Cliff Johnson and Cesar Cedeno hit homers and Lee May drove in three runs with a pair of doubles to lead the Astros to an 8-4 victory over the Reds. Johnny Bench and Tony Perez rapped round-trippers for the Reds. Bench connected for the circuit after a double by Joe Morgan in the first inning.

Johnson came up with a solo swat to cut the Reds' lead in the second and May put the Astros ahead with a two-run double in the third. May accounted for another RBI with a double in the fifth and scored himself on a single by Bob Watson. Cedeno hit his homer in the sixth. [The Sporting News]
