Although George Hendrick hit two homers and Charlie Spikes and Oscar Gamble rapped one apiece, the Indians were able to defeat the Brewers, 7-6, only because on Money committed his second error of the season. Hendrick and Spikes hit back-to-back homers in the first, but the Brewers erupted for five runs in their half. Money singled for his first of four hits and Dave May and George Scott doubled to kayo Steve Arlin before the Indians' starter could retire a batter. Bruce Ellingsen, who relieved and pitched 5 2/3 innings, received credit for his first major league victory.

Gamble hit his homer in the fourth and the Indians tied the score in the fifth when Frank Duffy singled and Hendrick rapped his second round-tripper. With one out in the sixth, Buddy Bell was safe on Money's error, Luis Alvarado singled and John Lowenstein walked. After Eduardo Rodriguez replaced Jim Colborn, Duffy singled to drive in two runs.
