Jeff Burroughs collected four hits, including a grand-slam homer, and drove in six runs to help power the Rangers to a 12-5 victory over the White Sox. The Rangers bunched singles by Dave Nelson, Jim Sundberg, Alex Johnson and Burroughs for two runs in the third inning before putting the game away with five runs in the fourth. A single by Jim Fregosi, pass to Sundberg and single by Cesar Tovar produced the first tally.

After Johnson was hit by a pitch to load the bases, Burroughs whacked his grand slam off Jim Kaat. Burroughs drove in another run with a single in the eighth before the Rangers closed out their scoring with three in the ninth, two coming home on a triple by Joe Lovitto.
