The two-man offensive punch of Paul Blair and Bobby Grich, who scored 10 runs between them and drove in six and contributed one homer each, guided the Orioles to a 7-4, 6-3 sweep of the Tigers. Grich hit a three-run homer in the second inning of the opener and singled home Blair, who had doubled, in the sixth, to expand the Baltimore lead to 6-1.

Blair broke a 3-3 tie in the sixth inning of the second game when he homered after Mark Belanger had singled with two out. Grich and Blair scored the Orioles' first two runs in the second game, crossing the plate on Earl Williams' single in the third. [The Sporting News]
