The Mets scored eight times in the final three innings to defeat the Expos, who had grabbed an early 3-0 lead against Tom Seaver, 10-4. Reliever and winner Tug McGraw, who hurled three scoreless frames, broke the game open with his first hit of the season, a three-run double in the eighth which broke a 4-4 tie. Ken Boswell's two-run pinch-homer had pulled the New Yorkers even in the seventh.
