Cesar Tovar, who scored the first run, drove in the final two in a six-run first inning which sent the Rangers winging toward a 13-8 victory over the White Sox. Texas kayoed starter Stan Bahnsen in the opening frame, and Chicago never caught up although the Sox pulled to within two (9-7) in the fourth. The Rangers took advantage of two Chicago errors and added four singles and a sacrifice fly to score three more in the top of the fifth. The third Texas hurler, Don Stanhouse, earned his first victory, hurling one-run relief over the final four innings. [The Sporting News]
