The Angels used five pinch-hitters, all of whom remained in the game, and got total production from them of six hits, driving in all their runs, in a 6-4 victory over the White Sox. Winston Llenas, Leroy Stanton, Doug Howard and Ellie Rodriguez each hit run-scoring singles as pinch-hitters. After staying in the game, Stanton and Howard added their second RBI singles. Bob Oliver was the only Angels' pinch-hitter to fail.

In the seventh inning, singles by Bobby Valentine and John Doherty and pinch-hits by Llenas and Stanton started the Angels' scoring. Frank Robinson doubled in the eighth and counted on a pinch-single by Howard, who took second on the throw. Rodriguez followed with his pinch-hit, scoring Howard.
