Richie Zisk homered in the ninth inning to give the Pirates a 4-3 victory over the Mets. All three of the Mets' runs off Jerry Reuss were unearned on errors by Bob Robertson and Frank Taveras. The Pirates tied the score at 3-3 in the fourth. Singles by Manny Sanguillen, Robertson, Art Howe and Taveras produced the first two runs and a third crossed the plate when Cleon Jones let Taveras' hit get past him in left field.
