Johnny Briggs set up one run with a single in the sixth inning and batted in two tallies with another single in the eighth to lead the Brewers to a 5-1 victory over the Rangers. Don Money walked in the fourth, took third on Briggs' single and crossed the plate as George Scott grounded into a double play.

In the eighth, Briggs knocked in his two runs after the Brewers loaded the bases on a double by Pedro Garcia, single by Dave May and an error. George Scott forced Briggs, but Darrell Porter walked and two more runs followed on another Ranger error and infield hit by Tim Johnson.
